Paving and soil preparation work on Lot 1 of Route PY15, part of the Bioceanic Corridor, has made new progress after completing the construction of 11 kilometers of asphalt base. This first layer is 7 centimeters thick and covers the roadway and shoulders; the next step in this section will be the application of the final 6-centimeter wearing course.
Likewise, in the area of kilometer 130, teams are carrying out soil-cement work to achieve an improved subgrade that guarantees the durability of the pavement, while between kilometers 102 and 105, earthworks are progressing.
The project currently employs a staff of 110 workers and is distinguished by an inclusive hiring policy that actively incorporates women and members of local indigenous communities, promoting equal opportunities in the sector.
The work on this lot is in charge of the Pacific Consortium —comprised of Enrique Díaz Benza Cano and Vial Agro S.R.L.— and is part of the projects promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) to transform the country's international connectivity.
The Bioceanic Corridor will link the Atlantic ports in Brazil with the Pacific ports in Chile through the Paraguayan Chaco. This section (Section 3 of Route PY15) comprises an extension of 224 kilometers between Mariscal Estigarribia and Pozo Hondo, strategically subdivided into four construction lots to expedite its execution and optimize international trade logistics in the region.
