The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation reports that the quality of Argentine dairy production has reached its highest level in 12 years. The production of useful solids (fat and protein) increased by 4.8% in the first 9 months of the year, and the average concentration of solids rose from 7.34% to 7.39%.
This data reflects an improvement in the composition and industrial yield of milk. In this regard, continuing to work on improving solids is a strategic objective to strengthen the competitiveness of the chain and, at the same time, acknowledge the efforts of producers.
Regarding national milk production, between January and September 2026, 8,647 million liters were reached, compared to 8,308 million in the same period of 2025, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.1%, according to the latest analysis by the National Directorate of Dairy.
Domestic consumption also accompanied this evolution. Between January and September, it reached 6,556 million equivalent liters, compared to 6,301 million in the same period of 2025, with a 4.0% year-on-year increase.
Meanwhile, exports maintained strong dynamism. In the first 9 months of the year, 340,845 tons of dairy products were exported, for a value of USD 1,306 million. As for destinations, Brazil remained the main one, with 162,844 tons exported, a 28% year-on-year increase, followed by Algeria, Chile, and China. Among the products with the highest growth were butter (+60%), mozzarella (+26%), whole milk powder (+12%), whey (+10%), and skimmed milk powder (+9%).
The data thus show a comprehensive improvement in the chain: Argentina produces more milk, with higher quality, while domestic consumption and export insertion simultaneously grow.
