Under Resolution N.° 870/2026, the first alert from the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) for the control of the Lobesia botrana pest in the province of Mendoza is in effect.
Grape producers must carry out moth control when their crops show visible floral clusters of 5 to 7 cm in length, using only products authorized by SENASA and following the instructions on the label.
The deadlines for carrying out the treatments will be until October 25th for farms in the North, East, and South Oases, while for establishments located in the Central Oasis, it will be extended until November 8th.
Although the conditions corresponding to accumulated temperature and cluster size established to determine the control moment have been met, recent frosts recorded in different areas of the province may modify crop development and, consequently, the optimal moment to carry out the treatment.
For this reason, producers are recommended to monitor the evolution of their crops and verify the state of the clusters before applying, in order to determine the appropriate moment for the control of the first flight of the pest.
It is reminded that producers who implement the Sexual Confusion Technique (TCS) using pheromone diffusers must also carry out the corresponding applications for moth control.
Alerts aim to indicate the opportune moment to carry out treatments. To achieve effective control, it is essential to make applications at the right time, considering both the conditions established for the alert and the phenological state of the crop. Likewise, the importance of keeping the Phytosanitary Measures Registration Notebook updated is reminded.
