As part of an investigation into the crime of human trafficking, personnel from the Argentine Naval Prefecture carried out four raids at different addresses in the City and province of Buenos Aires, in which two possible victims of sexual exploitation were identified.
The procedures originated from a thorough investigation carried out over the past year by Force specialists, which developed from an anonymous complaint made through line 145, alerting about the alleged existence of a premises where several women were being sexually exploited.
With that information, by order of Federal Criminal and Correctional National Prosecutor's Office No. 10, led by Dr. Paloma M. Ochoa, the investigation was carried out, determining the modus operandi of the place, which operated continuously, 24 hours a day, every day, through rotating shifts, under the management of three women.
In this context, Federal Criminal and Correctional National Court No. 6, at the request of the aforementioned prosecutor's office, ordered the raid of the establishment where women offered sexual services in exchange for money, located in the city center, where the presence of two potential trafficking victims was confirmed. They were interviewed by professionals from the National Coordination for Rescue and Support of Victims of Human Trafficking.
For its part, personnel from the National Directorate of Migration (DNM) did not find irregularities, while the General Directorate of Inspection and Control of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires determined that the place lacked authorization and presented non-compliance in terms of health, hygiene, and safety, proceeding to its closure.
At the location, three cell phones, cash, prophylactics, flyers, and notes related to the investigated activity were seized.
The remaining procedures were carried out at the private residences of the investigated individuals, located in the Buenos Aires towns of Monte Grande and General Rodríguez, where 13 cell phones, one tablet, two laptops, four passports, SIM cards, and documentation were seized, in addition to cash in national and foreign currency.
As a result of the operations, the three main investigated individuals were identified and charged.
It should be noted that personnel from the Human Trafficking Investigations, Economic Crimes, Drug Trafficking, and Complex Crimes Departments of the Prefecture participated in the operations. Professionals from the National Coordination for Rescue, the National Directorate of Migration, the General Directorate of Inspection and Control of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, and, as observers, from the National Directorate of Investigations of Human Trafficking and Against Sexual Integrity of the Ministry of Security also intervened.
