The delegation was led by the Institution's Director of Informatics and Communications, Prefecto General José Antonio Impollino, accompanied by the Head of the Communications Department, Prefecto Mayor Ricardo Rial; the Head of Prefectura San Carlos de Bariloche, Prefecto Principal Ezequiel Mansilla; and the Head of the Geographic Information Systems Division, Prefecto Mario Herlein.
During the visit, the authorities toured the laboratories and satellite integration facilities, where they learned about the capabilities and applications of SABIA-Mar (Satélite de Aplicaciones Basadas en la Información Ambiental del Mar), a mission developed by the Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CONAE) together with INVAP.
It is worth noting that Prefectura is part of the project's community of strategic users and participated in defining technical requirements so that the information provided by the satellite contributes to maritime surveillance, navigation safety, and environmental protection tasks in national maritime and fluvial areas.
The delegation also visited different production and technological evaluation sectors, including the facilities of the Centro de Ensayos de Alta Tecnología (CEATSA), where they saw the mechanical, vibration, and acoustic testing laboratories, as well as the thermovacuum chambers, used to subject space systems to extreme conditions that simulate the demands of launch and operation in orbit.
The tour also included the radar integration and manufacturing workshop, where the authorities learned about national capabilities in the design, production, and modernization of primary, secondary, and tactical radars.
These technologies are of particular interest to the Institution, within the framework of the modernization processes of its coastal surveillance systems, traffic control, and monitoring of maritime areas.
The visit strengthened knowledge about national technological developments and reaffirmed the commitment of the Prefectura Naval Argentina to incorporating innovative tools that contribute to optimizing its operational capabilities, through the integration of satellite information into the Force's command and control systems.
