The operation began during the early hours of the morning near kilometer 205 of the Uruguay River, when Force personnel observed a boat on the coast, without a name or registration, with two crew members on board, and, on a nearby dirt road, a utility truck with Uruguayan registration.
Presuming a possible export smuggling operation towards the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the officers went to the scene and, after shouting "Alto Prefectura" (Prefecture Stop), noticed that those involved fled, protected by the local geography.
Once the area was secured, an intense search was carried out and the vehicle was inspected, inside which 16 packages containing clothing, veterinary products, and footwear were found.
With the intervention of the Federal Court of Concepción del Uruguay, under the charge of Substitute Federal Judge Hernán Sergio VIRI, the merchandise, the vehicle, and the boat were seized. The value of the confiscated items exceeds 57 million pesos.
It should be noted that personnel from the Concepción del Uruguay and Colón Prefectures and the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Delegation of the Bajo Uruguay Zone Prefecture worked coordinately in the operation.
