The Port of Mar del Plata has added new infrastructure with the inauguration of Punto Cero, a refrigerated plant intended for the storage of frozen products from various points in southeastern Buenos Aires.
The Buenos Aires Minister of Agrarian Development, Javier Rodríguez, highlighted that "this investment improves logistics, which impacts the overall production of the region," and noted that "now there are new challenges to expand production and to avoid having to transport goods 400 km by truck."
"This investment and everything planned for the port is moving in the right direction, that of understanding that true development belongs to each region," he pointed out.
The Undersecretary of Port Affairs, Juan Cruz Lucero, emphasized that each public port in the province has a developed five-year plan, and ventures like Punto Cero "share the strategic objectives of reactivating the terminal and making Mar del Plata a key location for the foreign trade of this region."
The new facility has the capacity to store up to 200 40-foot containers, expanding the availability of cold infrastructure and strengthening the articulation between production, storage, transport, and commercialization.
For the Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium, the incorporation of Punto Cero represents a new commitment and contribution from the private sector that helps diversify and expand the activities carried out in the port.
"Every new investment incorporated into the port means expanding its capacities and generating new opportunities for production. We want to continue consolidating a port that serves as a productive and logistical platform for Mar del Plata and the entire region," emphasized the President of the Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium, Marcos Gutiérrez.
The plant is located in the former 'Manzana de los Circos' area, and its incorporation will improve the logistical conditions of various productive chains that require cold storage, including fishing, potato production, and kiwi.
The launch of Punto Cero adds to the process of incorporating new investments, infrastructure, and services that strengthen the profile of the Port of Mar del Plata as a driver of regional productive and logistical development.
