Svitzer has appointed Rodrigo Torras as the company's new Managing Director in Argentina. In this position, the professional – who recently served as CEO of Compas in Colombia – will be in charge of an operation that has more than 100 crew members and a presence in six ports across the country.
Torras, it is worth mentioning, is an executive with more than 20 years of international experience in various industries and in leadership positions within Latin America. His career includes extensive experience in the maritime and port sector, where he has served as CEO and managing director of port operations in some of the region's main terminals.
His background includes roles in the ports of Cartagena and Buenaventura, in Colombia, and in Buenos Aires and Bahía Blanca, in Argentina, experience that has allowed him to develop a broad understanding of the needs and expectations of industry clients.
"I am sure that in this new role, Rodrigo will generate sustainable value for Svitzer and our clients, and will boost growth in a market as complex and dynamic as Argentina," said Daniel Reedtz Cohen, Managing Director of Svitzer Americas.
The appointment also marks Torras's return to Svitzer. Previously, the executive served as Managing Director of Svitzer Americas' Terminal Towage cluster, which at the time grouped the company's operations in the Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, and St. Eustatius.
This cluster was at that time Svitzer's largest unit in the region in terms of operational capacity and revenue generation.
With his arrival at the helm in Argentina, Torras will take over the leadership of Svitzer's port towage operations in a market considered strategic for the company, with responsibility for six ports and more than a hundred crew members.
