AmaWaterways has opened bookings for its full 2028 program, which includes the addition of four new ships in Europe and Africa, new itineraries and an expansion of pre- and post-cruise land experiences in destinations across Europe, Colombia, Egypt, Africa and Vietnam.
Four New Ships
The AmaMaria will debut on the Rhine, with 76 staterooms and capacity for 152 guests according to Cruise Mapper, featuring the next-generation design introduced by its sister ship AmaFiora, which enters service in April 2027. In Portugal, the AmaGaia will join the AmaDouro and AmaSintra on the Douro River along with an additional vessel, while the sailing season in that region will be extended through November and December. In Africa, a new ship will join the existing Zambezi Queen on the Chobe River.
Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways, said the company seeks to keep evolving the guest experience and bring passengers closer to the destinations they visit, noting that the 2028 program reflects that vision with new ways to explore, discover and connect both onboard and ashore.
New Itinerary and Expanded Land Programs
The company will also introduce a 10- and 11-night itinerary called 'Elegance of Burgundy & Provence' aboard the AmaCello, available in July and August 2028, sailing the Rhône and Saône rivers with more time in port to explore the wine regions, historic villages and culinary traditions of Burgundy and Provence. In addition, the company is expanding its pre- and post-cruise land packages, with three-night extensions in Krakow and Brussels, and two-night extensions in Nuremberg, Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Dijon, Porto, Basel and Luxembourg.
