The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was alerted at around 10.25 am on Sunday, 1 November 2026, to a sighting of oil in the waters off Pulau Sebarok. A subsequent aerial surveillance flight confirmed several oil slicks off Pulau Sebarok, Pulau Semakau and Selat Pauh.
No slicks were detected near West Coast, Sentosa, the Southern Islands or East Coast during the surveillance flight. In response, MPA activated its oil spill response contractors and directed terminals in the area to deploy their own response resources.
Relevant agencies were alerted to take precautionary measures to protect the shoreline where necessary, and vessels in port were asked to report any sightings of oil slicks. MPA stated that there is no impact on vessel traffic or port operations.
The authority continues to monitor the situation and is working with agencies and terminals to mitigate and clean up the oil slicks, while investigating the source of the spill.
