Container Traffic at Valenciaport Falls 9.84% in July 2026

Container movement at Valenciaport facilities closed July with 459,517 TEUs. This represented a 9.84% reduction compared to 509,685 in July 2025.

As in recent months, import trade grew more than Spanish export activity. Between January and July, exports registered a total drop of 1.34%, while products from abroad saw an increase of 10.33%.

For the accumulated period between January and July of the current year, the volume of containers handled at Valenciaport terminals already amounts to 3,279,119 units (-1.34%).

In the interannual total (the last 12 months), the volume of traffic handled remains above 5.6 million containers; specifically, 5,618,144 TEUs, a figure that shows a growth of 0.16%.

China continued to be Valenciaport's main international market, both in containers and in tons. Between January and July, 546,966 TEUs linked to the Asian country were handled, 18.39% more than in the same period of 2025. In terms of weight, exchanges amounted to 5,941,770 tons, with a growth of 19.49%.

By container volume, after China were the United States, with 193,179 TEUs (-16.22%); Algeria, with 177,776 (-5.27%); and Turkey, with 112,110 (-23.98%). Italy reached 61,149 TEUs (-19.73%). Among the markets with positive evolution, Brazil stands out with 83,124 TEUs (+16.49%); Morocco, with 76,118 (+9.18%); and Egypt, with 73,226 (+11.15%).

Regarding the weight of goods, Italy continues as the second largest international market, with 3.66 million tons (-13.20%), ahead of the United States, with 3.35 million (-7.09%). Algeria adds 2.43 million tons (-15.77%) and Turkey approaches two million (-24.94%). Conversely, exchanges with Morocco and Egypt grew by 14.17% and 12.67%, respectively.

In relation to car movement, during last July, 48,405 vehicles were handled, a figure that represents a growth of 19.09% compared to the same month of 2025. Since the beginning of the year, Valenciaport terminals have loaded or unloaded 325,335 cars, 10.68% more than in the same period of the previous year. In an interannual perspective, it already handled 555,878 vehicles in this cargo specialty (+6.21%).

The Statistical Bulletin of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) also highlights significant data on railway or ferro-port movements. Between January and July, 2,303,316 tons were transported by this mode, 19.31% more than during the same period of the previous year.

In terms of containers, railway traffic reached 172,328 TEUs until July 31, representing a growth of 17.97%.
