The Port Authority of Castellón has organized a fam trip for October 6 and 7 with the tour operator Noatum Cruises Services so that cruise sector professionals can personally experience traveling to the Castellón destination and offer it among their excursions.
The objective of the initiative is to expand and diversify the range of excursions and experiences that Castellón can present to the cruise market, after new proposals from Onda and Burriana have generated great interest among shipping companies and operators. "The objective of familiarization trips is to create a product ad hoc to the needs and demands of the shipping companies," said the manager of the PortCastelló Foundation, Susana Soria.
This fam trip is one of the agreements reached by the Port Authority of Castellón during its participation last week in Seatrade CruiseMed Las Palmas, a benchmark event for the cruise industry in the Mediterranean, which brought together the main agents of the global cruise industry for two days: shipping companies, destinations, and operators.
Soria gave a very positive assessment of PortCastelló's presence at the Seatrade Las Palmas fair and, in this regard, pointed out that "the Castellón destination is becoming increasingly known and of greater interest to shipping companies looking for unique and authentic experiences that are part of our identity and our daily lives."
Likewise, the head of the Foundation indicated that "shipping companies like Aman at Sea, which do not yet call at Castellón, and which demand boutique ports in this area of the Spanish Mediterranean, are interested in learning about our products and seeing if our proposals fit their needs."
This "familiarization" trip covers Onda and Burriana with a plan that combines heritage, culture, nature, and gastronomy.
The program includes an excursion to the Naturem agricultural cooperative in Burriana where they will participate in an orange picking activity, taste products made with orange juice, such as jams and cakes, and take part in a masterclass and paella tasting. Subsequently, attendees will participate in a sustainable excursion to the Burriana insectarium dedicated to breeding beneficial insects to combat agricultural pests biologically.
On the other hand, the Onda fam trip includes a visit to the 'Castle of the 300 Towers', as well as a workshop at the ceramics museum, with painting and ceramics workshops, which are very interesting for premium shipping companies that demand this type of experience.
PortCastelló's new strategy presents the province as "one province, multiple worlds to discover."
The Mediterranean Sea coexists with natural spaces, mountains, historic towns, and gastronomy linked to local products. Ceramics, citrus fruits, olive oil, wine, and agricultural tradition are part of an identity that the port wants to convey to cruise passengers.
In addition to these proposals, there are other destinations such as Castellón city, Peñíscola, Vilafamés, Benicàssim, Oropesa, or Desert de les Palmes.
The offer is completed with gastronomic, cultural, artisanal, nature, wellness, and lifestyle experiences, adaptable to different passenger profiles.
