Puertos del Estado publishes the Statistical Yearbook of the State-Owned Port System for 2025 with all the information on Spanish ports. In addition, the 1962-2025 Annual Data Dashboard is updated, allowing interactive access to all port traffic data and comparisons.
The 2025 Statistical Yearbook includes recorded data on cargo, container, vessel, and passenger traffic for the 28 Port Authorities of the general interest system, as well as the technical characteristics of the ports.
The definitive 2025 data collected in the Yearbook confirm that the year closed with 556.2 million tons of goods moved, representing a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to 2024, in a year marked by global geopolitical and economic instability.
Regarding the total number of passengers, a new record was reached. In 2025, 4% more passengers passed through our ports than in 2024, totaling 42.49 million, which once again highlights the importance of the state port system in ensuring connectivity and territorial cohesion.
Regarding the national port offer, among the 46 ports of general interest, there are nearly 395,000 linear meters of quays, almost 100 million square meters of land and storage areas, 2,145 navigation aids managed by the Port Authorities, including 204 lighthouses and prominent lights, among other data.
The figures collected in this document confirm that maritime freight transport remains fundamental for trade in Spain. Its advantages over other modes include lower unit cost for long distances, ease of moving large volumes, and being one of the safest and least polluting. Approximately 71% of imports and 52% of exports in Spain are carried out by sea, according to AEAT data.
