Seizure of 1,238 kilos of cocaine in a coconut shipment in Seville

The Civil Guard and the Spanish Tax Agency have intercepted 1,238 kilos of cocaine that were hidden in a shipment of coconuts in Seville. The drug was concealed at the bottom of the truck trailer transporting the cargo and hidden in the lower part of the pallets. Additionally, two people have been arrested for an alleged drug trafficking offense. The operation began in December 2025, when investigators detected a company located in Dos Hermanas (Seville) that appeared to be used to introduce drugs into Spain. Subsequently, a suspicious maritime container was identified, leading to a close surveillance operation. In this way, an operation was organized to intercept the container just as the transporter was about to deliver the merchandise to a warehouse. This allowed for the interception of the merchandise right at reception, as well as the seizure of both cash and various electronic devices of great evidentiary value, thanks to two entries into properties in the province of Seville. "With this action, the distribution of a large drug stash has been prevented, and a significant blow has been dealt to drug trafficking networks, although the investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out," the Civil Guard reported. "This action is part of the permanent institutional collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and has been coordinated by the Operational Unit of the Customs Surveillance Service in Seville, the Fiscal Analysis and Investigation Unit of the Civil Guard of the Port of Seville, and the EDOA group of the Civil Guard of Seville and Algeciras.
