The Port of Castellón maintains a path of solid growth year-to-date, registering a 7.2% increase in its total cargo traffic compared to the same period of the previous year. This performance represents an increase of one million tons and is already close to 15 million tons moved.
The main drivers of this growth are general cargo, which grew by 48.7%, and container traffic, which has already exceeded 108,000 TEUs moved so far this year. This figure implies a 39% growth in TEU movement compared to the previous year and consolidates, even before the end of the year, the best record of the last four years. The countries leading TEU movement with PortCastelló are Morocco, followed by Turkey, Israel, and Egypt.
Statistics also reflect positive performance in dry bulk, which grew by 9.6%, while liquid bulk registered a slight decrease of 0.4%.
With these figures, liquid bulk represents the main traffic at the Port of Castellón, with 46.9% of the total volume moved, followed by dry bulk, which accounts for 43.7%, and general cargo, with a weight of 9.3%.
Regarding the heaviest goods operated in the port facilities since January, the following stand out in this order: petroleum, feldspar, gasoline, cement, kaolin, fuel oil, and grouped clays. These statistical data reaffirm PortCastelló as a port serving its productive sectors.
Finally, PortCastelló's main trading partners are, in order: Turkey, Morocco, Brazil, Angola, and Romania.
