The Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium has put into operation a weighbridge within its own jurisdiction, which will allow for the correct weighing of cargo transport and, at the same time, represent a new business unit. The equipment, with a maximum capacity of 60,000 kilograms, arrived as part of an agreement signed with the Executive Unit of the Argentine Single Window Foreign Trade Regime, a decentralized body of the Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Management of the Ministry of Productive Development.
"It is a fundamental contribution to the operation of this terminal that will allow us to add and improve the offer of port services and will also represent a new alternative for resources and income," explained Marcos Gutiérrez, president of the Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium.
To this end, the required civil works for the installation of this truck weighbridge were completed. It is a Full GaMa brand equipment, model El Calafate, digital, composed of a discharge receiver model and weight indicator, suitable for a minimum of 1,000 kilograms and class III accuracy in terms of measurement.
The operation, managed by the Mar del Plata Regional Port Consortium, will be handled by software that connects directly to the scale's indicator head and automatically receives the weight data, which reduces the margin of error and speeds up the process.
The assembly was carried out on a property at Avenida Prefectura Naval Argentina S/N (Av. de los Pescadores S/N) and its commissioning will allow for the registration of gross weight, tare, and net weight of cargo entering and leaving the port, generating receipts with fiscal validity.
The weighbridge will be enabled to operate for foreign trade and the local market by the competent bodies after authorization granted by the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) and will be incorporated as an instrument in the INTI's Legal Metrology database.
The service will operate from Monday, August 24, with reduced hours from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM, and from September 1, with full hours, meaning Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM and Saturdays from 7 AM to 5 PM. Also, by board resolution, the weighbridge service fee was set at 50,000 pesos (USD 33.12).
