The Prefectura Naval Argentina, through its Navigation Safety Police Directorate, was audited by the Argentine Institute for Standardization and Certification (IRAM), within the framework of ISO 9001:2015, with the objective of maintaining the certification of its Quality Management System (QMS).

The aforementioned Directorate has had a certified management system since 2003, under Registration Certificate No. 994, as part of its commitment to the safety of human life at sea and the continuous improvement of the services provided by the Institution.

The system comprises various fundamental processes for navigation safety, related to vessels, technical navigation conditions, and embarked merchant marine personnel. These include inspections, the analysis and approval of technical documentation for the issuance of national and international safety certificates, tonnage and freeboard certification, and the authorization and registration of naval industry and port work companies.

It also covers the approval of life-saving appliances and equipment, the certification of minor and recreational vessel constructions, the issuance of safety and minimum manning certificates, Port State Control inspections, and the certification of vessel safety and security management systems.

Furthermore, it includes processes related to the registration and authorization of titles, the endorsement of professional and embarkation documentation, the registration of courses covered by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), and services related to national registration and public registry.

Through this system, the Prefectura reaffirms its commitment to providing quality services, through international management standards, the strengthening of control mechanisms, and a permanent process of continuous improvement, which includes technological modernization, personnel training, and administrative simplification.
