Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced the opening of sales for two new inaugural Mediterranean itineraries aboard the Norwegian Aura, the company's newest and largest ship. The announcement comes thanks to the vessel's early delivery, which allowed the company to move up the date when passengers will be able to board for the first time, originally scheduled for May 21, 2027.
Two Itineraries Ahead of the Original Maiden Voyage
The first voyage is a 10-day cruise departing from Trieste, Italy, on May 2, 2027, with port calls in Dubrovnik and Split, Croatia; Bar, Montenegro; and Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos, Greece, before arriving in Athens (Piraeus). The second is a nine-day voyage departing from Athens (Piraeus) on May 12, calling at Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu in Greece, Bar in Montenegro, and Split and Zadar in Croatia, before returning to Trieste.
Bound for the Caribbean After the Mediterranean
Once these two inaugural departures are complete, the Norwegian Aura will sail an additional seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste to Barcelona, Spain, on May 21, 2027, with calls in Valletta, Malta; Salerno, Italy; and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. From Barcelona, the ship will embark on a 13-day transatlantic crossing to Miami, where it will offer seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises between June and October 2027, with stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay. In the 2027-28 winter season, the ship will switch to seven-day Western Caribbean itineraries to Roatan, Honduras; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Harvest Caye, Belize.
A Large-Scale Vessel
According to NCL, the Norwegian Aura will be the company's largest and longest ship to date, measuring nearly 1,130 feet in length and approximately 170,000 gross tons, 10% larger than the Norwegian Aqua and the Norwegian Luna. The ship will feature Ocean Heights, an outdoor activity complex spanning decks 18 through 21 that will include competitive racing slides, a free-fall slide, an 82-foot ropes course and carnival-style games, in addition to housing the largest pool and Vibe Beach Club in the fleet.
Statements and Promotions
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said that the early delivery of the Norwegian Aura allows the company to welcome guests sooner than planned and kick off vacation experiences ahead of schedule, noting that the ship was designed to bring together families and travelers of all generations with greater freedom and a wider variety of options. For those booking the new sailings, the company is offering its Fall Flash Sale, featuring 50% off all cruises and up to $750 in onboard credit per stateroom when booking a balcony cabin or higher, a promotion that can be combined with the Free at Sea package.
