Port Investment in Mexico Demands Certainty
Specialists warn that regulatory tightening and delays in concessions are hindering strategic projects in Mexican ports. Luz Alicia Iturbe de Garay, Legal Advisor for the API of Tamaulipas, pointed out that the lack of legal certainty is an obstacle to attracting investment, with dossiers accumulating up to six years awaiting resolution from Semarnat. Jesús Campos López, president of the CICM, highlighted that the transfer of the port sector to the Ministry of Navy marked a turning point in maritime-port governance.
