The Port of Veracruz plans to build a 280-meter vehicular bridge in the northern area of its port complex. The project, known as the Puente Nueva Aduana (New Customs Bridge), consists of an elevated vehicular viaduct located between Axis A and the access road to the Eastern Breakwater, along the section from kilometer 0+000 to kilometer 0+280.
According to Proyectos México's Project Profile 1116, updated on October 5, 2026, the project will be overseen by the Veracruz National Port System Administration (ASIPONA Veracruz) and includes a direct connection to the new Export Module and its customs equipment.
According to Proyectos México, the viaduct will be founded on compacted earthwork structures.
The project has an estimated investment of 105,408,227 Mexican pesos and was planned under a traditional public works scheme, through a national public bidding process.
The official schedule indicates that the call for bids was published on August 24, 2026, the contract award decision was issued on September 29, and the contract signing was scheduled for October 2.
Construction was scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, while the contract period is set to end on October 4, 2027. The project profile does not specify a percentage of physical construction progress.

The project is being developed within a port complex where work related to customs infrastructure is also underway.
In a publication from July 2026, ASIPONA Veracruz reported on the supervision of construction work on the Export Module and its equipment, as well as the planned roofing for 57 customs inspection positions.
Additionally, an institutional presentation from March 2026 indicates that the new customs facility at the Port of Veracruz will include 22 import lanes and 10 export lanes, compared with four and one, respectively, at the previous facility.
According to the ASIPONA Veracruz presentation, the new customs facility involves an investment of 1.497 billion Mexican pesos and had reached 70% completion as of March 2026. These figures refer to the customs infrastructure project, not to the construction of the 280-meter bridge.
