Peru's Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that during the first half of 2026 (January-June), agro-exports totaled USD 5.642 billion. This result represented an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period last year.
"Agriculture continues to conquer more markets with more fruits, vegetables, grains, and others, which confirms the competitiveness of our producers. The ministry's commitment is to continue working with small farmers to provide them with access to water, technical assistance, credit, technology, and mechanization," stated the sector minister, Marco Vinelli.
Traditional agricultural exports amounted to USD 371 million, an increase of 8.9% compared to 2025, due to higher recorded exports of unroasted, non-decaffeinated coffee (USD 323 million), refined sugar (USD 21 million), uncarded and uncombed wool (USD 6.0 million), and cane molasses (USD 5.3 million), whose sales increased by 7.7%, 25.8%, 64.4%, and 29.3% respectively. These products accounted for 95.9% of traditional agro-exports.
Meanwhile, non-traditional agro-exports reached USD 5.271 billion, a figure 3.3% higher than in the same period last year. The main products in the agro-export ranking during the period were avocados USD 933 million (17.7% share), fresh grapes USD 789 million (15%), fresh blueberries USD 427 million (8.1%), and fresh mangoes USD 264 million (5.0%).
Also highlighted were sales of raw cocoa beans USD 164 million (3.1%), other fresh fruits USD 148 million (2.8%), fresh asparagus USD 136 million (2.6%), frozen mango USD 107 million (2.0%), animal feed USD 106 million (2.0%), and quinoa USD 78 million (1.5%). These 10 products together accounted for 59.8% of the non-traditional exportable supply.
Furthermore, the products with the highest positive contribution in June 2026 compared to 2025 were fresh blueberries (+52.7%), fresh grapes (+16.8%), avocados (+12.0%), other fresh fruits (+32.7%), ethyl alcohol (+91.7%), fresh mangoes (+14.0%), other vegetable oils and fats (+115.6%), passion fruit juice (+47%), quinoa (+21.7%), and food products containing cocoa (+96.8%), among others.
Main Markets
Similarly, Midagri revealed that in those first six months of the year, the ten main destination countries for Peruvian agricultural exports were the United States, Netherlands, Spain, Chile, Mexico, England, Ecuador, Colombia, China, and Canada. This group of countries accounted for 79.7% of the total FOB value exported during the study period.
Another highlight during the January-June period was that the agricultural trade balance recorded a surplus of USD 1.631 billion. By the end of the first half, this represented an increase of USD 197 million compared to the same period in 2025.
On the other hand, the regional performance of agro-exports has been extremely positive. Favorable performance was observed in 15 of the country's 24 departments, with coastal regions showing greater dynamism with an increase of 6.6%.
