Peru implements fuel subsidy for cargo, passenger, river transport, and mototaxis
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Elmer Cuba, announced that the government will implement a targeted fuel price subsidy for mass cargo and passenger transport throughout Peru. For the first time in the republic's history, the subsidy will be extended to mototaxi drivers in the jungle and river transport. The first direct subsidy will come into effect in the coming days, while the one aimed at mototaxis and "peque-peques" (small boats) will take three weeks to register these sectors on a technological platform.
