APM Terminals Callao, operator of the North Multipurpose Terminal of the Port of Callao, received the vessel Grande Florida with 4,538 Inchcape vehicles directly from China. The vessel completed a direct route to Callao in just 25 days, strengthening Peru's connectivity with one of the world's main automotive markets.
The cargo from the Grande Florida, operated by the shipping line Grimaldi, will be fully discharged over the next few days and is destined entirely for the Peruvian market. This reflects the confidence of clients and shipping lines in APM Terminals Callao to manage large volumes of automotive cargo with high standards of safety and efficiency.
"Integrated work with all stakeholders in the automotive logistics chain, accompanying the client from planning to execution, is key to ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-performance operation," said Stephany Bravo De Rueda, Commercial Manager of General Cargo at APM Terminals Callao.
The arrival of the Grande Florida coincides with the handling of the vessel Chronus Leader, which is transporting 2,600 vehicles. Together, APM Terminals Callao is mobilizing over 7,000 units simultaneously, while maintaining its other operations. The port operator handles approximately 70% of Peru's rolling cargo, which includes cars, trucks, buses, and machinery.
The arrival of larger volume shipments, such as that of the Grande Florida, demonstrates the need for port infrastructure prepared to support market expansion and handle increasingly demanding operations. A 35% growth in the automotive sector is estimated for this year alone.
APM Terminals Callao consolidates its position as a strategic partner for the automotive industry, supporting its growth with capacity, experience, and logistics solutions that strengthen connectivity with Asia and Peru's competitiveness.
