Public-use terminals in Peru's port system mobilized 17.6 million metric tons between January and March 2026, a figure that represented a 4.1% growth compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Port Authority (APN). This result marked a new historical record for the activity.
According to the latest statistical report from the APN, the largest increase was recorded in rolling cargo with a growth of 62.9%. Also noteworthy were break-bulk cargo, which increased by 10.9%; bulk minerals, 9.3%; containerized cargo, 4.1%; and solid bulk, 0.1%.
According to the ministry, the results demonstrate greater logistical and commercial dynamism in the country's main ports. This performance is associated with improvements in infrastructure and the strengthening of the operational capacity of port terminals, factors that have allowed them to respond to increased demand and optimize the flow and transfer of goods.
Furthermore, the sector also highlighted that this performance contributes to increasing the country's competitiveness, generating greater opportunities for foreign trade, and positioning Peru as a strategic player within regional and international maritime routes.
