Douglas Mawson Makes Maiden Call to Caen During D-Day Anniversary
The Douglas Mawson of Aurora Expeditions made her maiden call at the Port of Caen-Ouistreham in France from June 5 to 7, coinciding with the 82nd anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. The call took place alongside the Clio of Grand Circle Cruise Line, marking the first double overnight call at the port's newly refurbished Nouveau Bassin quay. The Port of Caen-Ouistreham is preparing for further infrastructure development with a new Colombelles Bridge scheduled for completion in summer 2027, allowing the port to accommodate vessels up to 185 meters in length.
