Viking President/CEO Leah Talactac welcomed Nile River vessel Viking Sekhmet, built at Cairo's Massara shipyard and closely following Viking Ptah.
"The Nile has connected people with the history and culture of Egypt for thousands of years, and it continues to be a destination that inspires curious travelers," Talactac said. "With the arrival of the elegant Viking Sekhmet, we are pleased to offer even more opportunities for curious travelers to explore Egypt in Viking comfort."
Viking Sekhmet houses 82 passengers in 41 staterooms and like its sisters in a years-long series, sports modern Scandinavian design, a square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace.
Viking Sekhmet will take up the 12-day "Pharoahs & Pyramids" cruise-tour, which bookends a Nile voyage with hotel stays in Cairo. Daily excursions are included.
Based on Viking's committed orderbook, the company expects to take delivery of 19 additional river vessels by 2028, 11 ocean ships by 2032 and two expedition ships by 2031.
With these, Viking will have 114 river vessels in 2028 and 28 ocean and expedition ships in 2032.
