GNV launches 6th vessel of 8-ship fleet renewal at Guangzhou Shipyard

Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), part of MSC Group, has begun construction of the second vessel in its second series of 4 new ro-pax ferries at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China, marking the 6th ship in an 8-vessel renewal programme. The new ferries will be 237 metres long with ~71,300 gross tonnage, accommodating up to 2,500 people with 527 cabins and ~3,500 lanemetres of garage capacity. All 4 ships in the second series will be designed for LNG operation and equipped with environmental technologies intended to reduce CO₂ emissions per transported unit by more than 50% compared with the previous generation of GNV ferries.
