Crude Oil Tanker Pioneer 1 Loses Engine Power off Turkish Coast

The Russian-flagged crude oil tanker Pioneer 1 went adrift after experiencing engine failure off the coast of Marmara on 5 September while en route from Vadinar, Russia, to China. The Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Centre dispatched tugboat Kurtarma and emergency response ship Nene Hatun, which safely towed the vessel to Tekirdağ Anchorage Area. All crew members were safe and no marine pollution was reported.
