Wreck removal of MSC Baltic III advances with pulling operations in Newfoundland

Wreck removal crews have begun pulling the grounded containership MSC Baltic III toward shore near Wild Cove in Newfoundland and Labrador, with operations starting July 31. Of the 472 containers aboard, 471 have been removed. The Canadian Coast Guard oversees the operation, with pollution-response equipment standing by as residual fuel remains onboard. The vessel grounded in February 2025 after losing power during severe weather, with all 20 crew members safely evacuated.
