TOTE to Coordinate $2.2 Billion Navy Medium Landing Ship Program
TOTE Services has assembled a nationwide network of more than 30 shipbuilders, equipment manufacturers and defense contractors to support the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps' Medium Landing Ship program, valued at $2.2 billion. The company, selected in July as Vessel Construction Manager, hosted an LSM Industry Day in Washington to brief participants on construction schedules, technical requirements and subcontracting opportunities. The Navy and Marine Corps envision a 35-ship LSM fleet, with Fincantieri Marinette Marine and Bollinger Shipyards expected to build the initial vessels. The roughly 4,000-ton vessels are designed to transport Marines, vehicles, equipment and supplies in contested littoral environments.
