MSC in talks to acquire 80% of Meyer Werft shipyard

Shipping group MSC is negotiating the acquisition of 80% of Meyer Werft, a German shipyard specializing in cruise ships. This stake is currently held by the German Federal Government and Lower Saxony, while the Meyer family would retain the remaining 20%. The discussions are in an early stage, and in December 2025, both companies announced an agreement to build four New Frontier class cruise ships with a capacity of 5,400 passengers and 180,000 gross tons, with deliveries scheduled from 2030.
