Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest and diversified shipbuilding groups, and J.A. Solutions, a Danish company specializing in the design and production of custom-built containers, modules and handling systems for defense and commercial applications, have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) aimed at developing a strategic industrial collaboration in the field of advanced modular and containerized systems for reconfigurable naval vessels. The agreement was signed in Paris, during Euronaval 2026, by Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, and René Bertelsen, CEO of J.A. Solutions. The signing ceremony was also attended on behalf of Fincantieri, by Chairman Biagio Mazzotta, General Manager of the Naval Vessels Division Eugenio Santagata, and Senior Vice President Naval Product Development and Partnering, Adm. Matteo Bisceglia.
The agreement marks a further step in Fincantieri’s strategy to advance the development of increasingly flexible, modular and mission-ready naval platforms, capable of rapidly adapting to evolving operational requirements. By combining Fincantieri’s expertise in the design, construction and integration of complex naval vessels with J.A. Solutions’ specialized capabilities in modular systems, the cooperation will explore new technologies designed to enhance platform reconfigurability and expand mission capabilities. In particular, J.A. Solution’s expertise encompasses the integration of a broad range of mission-specific payloads, including drones, sensors, decoys systems, communications and environmental equipment, as well as the development of interfaces required to seamlessly integrate containerized payloads with the ship’s infrastructure.
Building on their complementary expertise, the two companies will identify opportunities to integrate J.A. Solutions’ technologies and products into Fincantieri platforms. The cooperation will focus on assessing operational and technical requirements, adapting existing systems and developing new solutions, while also exploring potential commercial opportunities in international markets. The multifaceted partnership also provides for the possibility for Fincantieri to enter the share capital of J.A. Solutions, with the aim of further strengthening the collaboration and the Group’s ties with the Danish industrial ecosystem, characterized by highly specialized know-how in modular and reconfigurable vessels.
