With the aim of strengthening ties with the regional educational community and deepening knowledge about the logistics chain and international trade, Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) carried out a new session of the "Vive Tu Puerto" campaign.
On this occasion, the terminal welcomed a delegation of 20 11th and 12th-grade accounting students from Colchane Professional Technical High School. During the tour, the young people learned firsthand about port operations, foreign trade management, and the close link between their academic training and the economic dynamism of the Tarapacá Region.
During the day, special emphasis was placed on the strategic importance of the Colchane commune for the Port of Iquique, as it constitutes the final stretch of the "last mile" in logistics. By housing the border crossing and customs outpost connecting Chile with Bolivia, the main market and client of the Iquique port facility, the natural and historical link between the border commune and port activity was highlighted.
The activity involved teachers José Zamudio and Esther Mamani, also highlighting the management and coordination carried out by Perla Riveros Hernández, head of the Technical Pedagogical Unit (UTP) of the establishment.
For her part, student Jhennyfer Poma Quispía valued the experience on behalf of her classmates, highlighting the opportunity to learn firsthand about the operational and institutional functioning of the terminal and thanking the port's openness to young people from the interior of the region.
Through the "Vive Tu Puerto" initiative, EPI reaffirms its commitment to strengthening technical-professional education and the integration of inland communes in the logistical development of the northern macro-zone.
