Iran Denies U.S. Negotiations as Trump Cancels Military Action
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei rejected claims of ongoing negotiations with the United States, stating no talks were scheduled and all Iranian negotiators remained in the country except Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who was on pilgrimage in Iraq. The denial contradicted Trump's assertion that talks would begin that afternoon. The dispute over the Strait of Hormuz remains central to the conflict, with Iran maintaining authority over shipping traffic. Oil prices fell more than 4% to around $84 a barrel following Trump's decision to hold back military action.
