Developed virtually and in English, this first edition included participants from different regions of the world, including Cameroon, Azerbaijan, Guyana, Kuwait, Ghana, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Togo, Philippines, Indonesia, Liberia, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Timor-Leste, Antigua and Barbuda, and Bahamas, among others. This broad international representation fostered the exchange of experiences and perspectives on the challenges faced by Maritime Administrations regarding the safe transport of dangerous goods.

Throughout the training, participants deepened their knowledge of the provisions of the IMDG Code, a fundamental instrument for ensuring the safety of maritime transport of packaged dangerous goods. The content included essential aspects such as the classification and identification of substances, packaging, marking and labeling requirements, corresponding documentation, and criteria for their handling, stowage, and transport on board vessels.

The training was led by instructors from the Environmental Protection Directorate of the Argentine Naval Prefecture, who shared their knowledge and professional experience in the field. The final virtual class integrated the content developed over the four weeks and highlighted the importance of properly applying international provisions to prevent accidents, protect human life at sea, and reduce risks to the marine environment.

This initiative is part of the six international courses offered by the Argentine Naval Prefecture to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), aimed at sharing institutional capabilities and experiences with officials from Maritime Administrations of various Member States.

The culmination of this first edition represents a milestone in the internationalization process of the institutional educational offerings and reflects the scope of these specialized training proposals. It also opens new opportunities to strengthen ties with Maritime Authorities from different regions of the world.

Coordinated by the Secretariat for International Affairs, this initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Argentine Naval Prefecture to professional training and capacity building in the international maritime field.

In this way, the Institution continues to project its knowledge beyond national borders and language barriers, contributing, through specialized training, to safer, more efficient, and sustainable maritime transport.
