Hanseatic Global Terminals participated in an international cybersecurity leadership simulation focused on critical infrastructure. The activity, held in Buenos Aires, brought together representatives from the public and private sectors to strengthen preparedness and response to incidents that could affect the continuity of essential services.
The company was represented by Claudio Aguilera, senior global IT director, who shared experiences and perspectives with leaders from companies and government agencies linked to strategic sectors in Chile, Argentina, and Paraguay.
"Digital transformation has opened up significant opportunities for the logistics and port industry, but it has also increased our dependence on technology. Exercises like this allow us to train, in a safe environment, decision-making under pressure, the allocation of limited resources, and coordination between different areas, all of which are essential capabilities for effectively responding to a cyber crisis," Aguilera stated.
The activity was carried out using Cyber42, an interactive leadership simulation game developed by the SANS Institute, in which participants, organized into teams, took charge of the cybersecurity program of a fictitious organization and faced scenarios of increasing complexity while managing limited resources of time, budget, and personnel.
The dynamic required evaluating risks and alternatives, prioritizing actions, and making decisions with an impact on security capabilities and culture, with an emphasis on strategic planning, collaboration, consensus building, and proactive crisis management.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Cyber Exercises and Experiential Education (CE3) program, organized by CRDF Global with the support of the United States Government and facilitated by an expert from the SANS Institute.
CRDF Global is an independent, non-profit American organization, founded in 1995, that develops cooperation and capacity-building programs in over 120 countries in areas such as cybersecurity, emerging technologies, health, and global security.
