The Government of the Province of Santa Fe (Argentina) announced that it will not implement the port works financing plan without first reaching an agreement with the agricultural sector. It is worth remembering that a couple of months ago the provincial administration had announced that it would charge a contribution of USD 1.5 for each ton of grain entering the ports of Greater Rosario.
According to local media Rosario3, during the Acsoja Seminar, the Secretary of Cooperation of the Government of Santa Fe, Cristian Cunha, assured that "the idea is not to impose anything, but rather for it to emerge by consensus and only when the sector understands that it is the way and the definitive solution for the next 25 or 30 years."
Furthermore, the official added that "Governor Maximiliano Pullaro was clear and emphatic in stating that the initiative will not be promoted until an agreement is reached with the entire agro-industrial chain."
"We will work throughout this year, but until there is general consensus, until there is general dialogue, we will not move forward," Cunha detailed.
Regarding the financing of works in the Rosario terminals, the Secretary of Cooperation maintained that "Santa Fe will still continue to advance with the works. We will continue to initiate those we have planned. What we propose is how to sustain these works into the future and how to finance another scale of investments," he concluded.
