The Port of Ilhéus reached a new historical milestone by handling magnesium oxide at its facilities for the first time.
This operation represents an advance in the diversification of cargo managed by the terminal administered by the Federal Port Authority (Codeba), strengthening its logistical capacity and its potential to attract new business and expand its participation in foreign trade.
In total, 8,700 tons of the product will be shipped, of which 6,500 come from RH Magnesita and 2,200 from Ibar. The cargo is destined for the Port of New Orleans, in the United States, and will be transported by the vessel Eva.
"More than an unprecedented operation, this shipment represents the opening of a new commercial front for the Port of Ilhéus. We hope that this movement will be the first of many and that it will consolidate the terminal as a strategic alternative for the export of mineral cargo, reinforcing its competitiveness in the international market," commented Codeba President, Antonio Gobbo.
The operation involves port operators Intermarítima Portos e Logística, Irmãos Brito, and FGS, responsible for the handling and loading of the merchandise, ensuring efficiency and safety at all stages of the process.
With the expansion of its cargo portfolio, Codeba affirmed its commitment to the development of port logistics, contributing to the strengthening of the regional economy, the generation of opportunities, and the sustainable growth of the Brazilian port sector.
