Santander, July 6, 2026. The Port Authority of Santander (APS) has renewed the vehicle fleet assigned to the port police service through a renting contract for the incorporation of four SUV vehicles over a five-year period. The successful bidder was the company ARVAL SERVICE LEASE, S.A.U, for an amount of 174,000 euros.
The President of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), César Díaz, emphasized that this vehicle renewal is "a priority" to ensure the proper performance of the agents' functions, "especially those related to surveillance, security, and operations within the port facilities."
The incorporation of these four hybrid vehicles represents another step in the modernization of the APS's vehicle fleet and responds, as Díaz indicated, "to the institution's commitment to increasingly efficient and sustainable management." Thanks to their hybrid technology and ECO environmental label, they will contribute "to reducing polluting emissions and the acoustic impact derived from the daily activity of the service, promoting more environmentally friendly mobility within the port environment," he added.
In addition to their environmental features, the new vehicles incorporate comprehensive equipment aimed at reinforcing the security and response capability of the Port Police. Among their main characteristics are the V-1 luminous signaling bridge with blue LED technology and acoustic signaling for priority vehicles, front emergency lights, and a V16 pre-signaling device connected to the DGT 3.0 platform, which improves vehicle visibility and facilitates incident management on the road.
The equipment is completed with two reflective vests approved in accordance with current regulations, a fire extinguisher with a holder, and two rechargeable flashlights, elements that contribute to increasing the safety of the agents and their capacity to act in interventions within the port area.
With this action, "we are advancing in the improvement of resources made available to the Port Police, reinforcing the security of operations, the efficiency of the service, and our commitment to environmental sustainability," concluded the president of the port administration.
