Aurora Expeditions has recorded significant growth in bookings from the North American market for its 2025-26 Antarctic season, with reservations from the United States increasing by 37% compared with the previous year. The performance outpaced the wider North American Antarctic market, which expanded by 11.5% over the same period, according to figures published by the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO).
The results further strengthen North America's position within Aurora Expeditions' global business, with travellers from the region accounting for approximately one-third of all expedition guests during the most recent Antarctic season.
David Tanguay, Head of Global Sales at Aurora Expeditions, indicated that the company's performance reflects its continued investment in the North American market together with the support of its travel trade partners. He noted that demand continues to grow among travellers seeking small-ship expeditions led by specialist expedition teams, with increasing interest in immersive experiences that provide more time ashore and closer engagement with Antarctica's natural environment.
The growth coincides with Aurora Expeditions' largest Antarctic programme to date. During the 2025-26 season, the company operated 30 voyages and completed an estimated 819 shore landings, expanding its presence in one of the world's most tightly regulated expedition cruise regions.
Aurora's operating model remains centred on small-group exploration, supported by an expedition guide-to-guest ratio of ~1:7. Guests are offered a broad programme of expedition activities, including Zodiac cruising, shore landings, kayaking, snorkelling, skiing, camping, photography and diving, depending on voyage conditions and itinerary.
Looking ahead, the company stated that its focus in North America will remain on supporting travel advisors through specialist training, product knowledge and sales resources to meet growing demand for polar expedition travel. Aurora Expeditions has also opened bookings for its 2026-27 Antarctic season, continuing its programme of small-ship voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula and other Southern Ocean destinations.
