Ministers of Egypt and United Arab Emirates Strengthen Trade Cooperation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Egypt, Badr Abdelaty, and his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a meeting in Abu Dhabi. The meeting aimed to deepen trade relations between the two countries.

Details of the aforementioned meeting were provided on the Egyptian government's website, where it was reported that "the ministers praised the constant development and momentum that relations between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates are experiencing in various fields, under the directives of President Abdelfatah El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the brotherly State of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the special nature that reflects the strategic partnership and common interest in continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation, for the benefit of the interests of both countries and the two brotherly peoples."

At the same time, it was reported that both authorities emphasized the need to restore free traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, explaining that "in accordance with the rules of international law, the safety and protection of international navigation must be ensured and maritime traffic must not be obstructed."

"Likewise, they reject any attempt to impose restrictions on transit through international waterways, given the negative repercussions this would have for the global economy and energy security," it added.

Finally, it was communicated that "both ministers exchanged views on a series of regional issues of common interest, among which stand out navigation security, the evolution of the situation in Sudan and the latest developments related to the Palestinian issue, as well as developments in Syria and Lebanon," the publication concluded.
