Cosco Shipping mobilized three specialized vessels to transport 17 RTG cranes to the Port of Walvis Bay (Namibia). The ships designated for the voyage were the Da Xiang, Da Xin, and Da An, which transported the aforementioned infrastructure from Zhenhua Heavy Industries' Nantong base (China).
Details of this milestone were provided on the company's social media, where it was reported that "despite the tight preparation schedule, the project team successfully coordinated vessel allocation, terminal operations, and loading activities, including night work, to keep the project on track."
"Leveraging the vessels' heavy-lift capabilities and large deck space, all 17 RTGs were successfully loaded and passed inspection on the first attempt," it added.
Furthermore, it was reported that "upon arrival in Walvis Bay, the equipment will help increase port efficiency and throughput capacity at one of Southern Africa's main Atlantic gateways, supporting trade growth across the region," the publication concluded.
