A container fell onto a reach stacker crane inside the HGT Inland Services off-port facility in San Antonio.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the equipment was handling the containerized unit, and for reasons currently under investigation, the container fell.
Despite the container's fall, the crane operator was unharmed, thanks to the protection offered by the unit's hydraulic cylinders, which prevented a direct impact on the cabin.
The hydraulic arms that lift protected the sides of the crane's cabin, shielding the machinery operator, who remained unharmed after the container fell. After the emergency was resolved, the facility resumed normal operations.
"For reasons under investigation, a container fell while being handled by a container crane. The operator was unharmed, and the off-port terminal resumed normal operations," stated HGT Inland Services.
