In April 2026, Maersk entered into a strategic partnership with a leading Korean energy solutions company. Founded in the late 1970s as a domestic manufacturer and exporter of power transformers, the company has since expanded its global footprint and is now one of the world's leading energy solutions providers. They manufacture electrical equipment and machinery that support critical power infrastructure for utilities, energy companies and industrial operators, where reliability and timely delivery are essential.
Maersk has extensive experience managing complex project cargo worldwide and the industry expertise needed to support the customer's expansion in the US. To achieve both commercial competitiveness and operational reliability, the customer turned to Maersk to manage its high-priority heavy-lift logistics requirements.
Transportation of our customer's over-sized and heavy-lift cargo, especially their massive and multi-hundred-ton transformers from Korea to United States, is the top priority. They also require an integrated project solution that includes inland transportation, ocean, freight and terminal handling, and barge connection at destination. Maersk ensures a seamless end-to-end solution with close coordination across multiple countries, business units, and operational teams. A comprehensive suite of resilient logistics solutions that deliver clear supply chain visibility, operational continuity, and system-wide optimisation.

For our Korean customer, the transportation scope includes collection of cargo from manufacturing site, export heavy-lift handling in Busan, breakbulk transportation via a container vessel to Houston, and other innovative logistics practices that Maersk Project Logistics offers and are aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening resilience.
Schedule reliability is also paramount to this project. The project involved multiple cargo types requiring specialised handling and detailed operational planning. To counter traditional bulk services that often face limited sailing frequency and schedule uncertainty, Maersk strategically ulitised its vast network to move our customer's multi-hundred ton and specialised cargo. A multi-stage process of project logistics from breakbulk, out-of-gauge and in-gauge containers, flat racks to dangerous goods that goes beyond standard containerisation. With the support of the Gemini network and fixed weekly services, higher schedule reliability and greater flexibility were attained for our customer's project execution.
