CK Line, also known as Chun Kyung Shipping, has placed firm orders for the construction of two 6,400 TEU containerships at the Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard (GWS) facilities.
"The regional Korean shipping company opted for the popular Maric Hercules 6000 design and plans to receive both vessels in the third quarter of 2029," Alphaliner reported.
"CK Line's orders include options for two additional sister vessels which, if exercised, would likely be delivered in 2029 or early 2030," it added.
In line with the report, the two sister vessels will become the largest units in CK Line's fleet, which currently consists of 20 ships, mainly in the 700 to 1,900 TEU size range, plus a single 2,700 TEU unit.
"The price has not been disclosed, but vessels of this size built in China typically start from 80 million dollars. It is likely that CK Line's two vessels will have above-average specifications, which would place their price around 84 million dollars," the consultancy stated.
"Maric's Hercules 6000 vessels measure 240 meters in length and 42.8 meters in beam (17 rows). Conventionally powered vessels of this series typically include a MAN B&W 6G 80ME-C10-HPSCR type main engine, although the full technical specifications for CK Line's vessels are not yet available," it added.
CK Line has opted for 1,150 reefer plugs, which exceeds the base variant of this model, which has space for 800 reefers.
"The vessels will most likely be equipped with exhaust gas scrubbers and will feature a bow wind deflector," Alphaliner concluded.
