The National Service of Environmental Certification for Sustainable Investments (Senace) approved the Supporting Technical Report (ITS), which will allow the modification of the disposal area for dredged material from the Salaverry multipurpose port terminal, a measure aimed at optimizing the maintenance operations of this port infrastructure through a sustainable investment of 4.5 million dollars.
The approval was formalized through Directorial Resolution Nº 00079-2026-SENACE-PE/DEIN, dated July 31, 2026, for the project presented by Salaverry Terminal Internacional S.A., located in the district of Salaverry, province of Trujillo, La Libertad region.
The modification consists of replacing Disposal Zone 3 (ZV3) with Disposal Zone 4 (ZV4), which will allow for the disposal of up to 3 million cubic meters of dredged material per year, originating from the maintenance work of the port terminal. According to Senace, this new zone offers better technical and environmental conditions, favoring greater efficiency in dredging operations.
The approved ITS received favorable technical opinions from the National Water Authority (ANA), the National Port Authority (APN), the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coastguards (Dicapi), the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Environmental Affairs of the Ministry of Production, the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor), the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe), and the National Fisheries Health Organization (Sanipes).
The Supporting Technical Report is an environmental management instrument that allows for the approval of modifications or expansions of investment projects whose environmental impacts are not significant or that incorporate technological improvements, without altering previously evaluated environmental conditions.
