Jiangnan Changxing shipyard (belonging to CSSC Group) completed the delivery of the vessel Alicia to the shipping company Peter Döhle Group. This vessel, with a capacity of 14,170 TEU and "Neopanamax" characteristics, is the first of four sister ships commissioned by the German company.
According to Alphaliner, the Alicia will also bear two other names; Esl Singapore (for its first charterer, Emirates Shipping Line, ESL) and Brisbane Express (for its next charterer, Hapag-Lloyd).
Continuing with the future chartering, it was detailed that "Peter Döhle initially ordered the vessel to operate with ESL, a regional shipping carrier wholly owned by the German group. However, high charter rates, combined with the fact that the vessel might be too large for ESL at this time, led the Döhle Group to accept a charter agreement with Hapag-Lloyd. Scheduling data shows that the new vessel will make a round trip from Ningbo to Khor Fakkan for ESL, operating on the shipping company's 'Galex' service.
"In early July, it will join Hapag-Lloyd for a longer period, starting with an Asia-Mediterranean deployment," it was added.
Regarding the characteristics of the Alicia, it was indicated that "it has a deadweight of approximately 170,000 tons with a design draft of 17.00 m. Its main engine, a WinGD 6X92-B type, delivers 36,500 kW."
"It can carry up to 1,000 refrigerated containers. The vessel is conventionally propelled and equipped with an exhaust gas scrubber, but all four sister ships have the 'Methanol ready' class notation for future adaptation," it was reported.
