G2 Ocean is incorporating six new open-hatch vessels starting in 2029, in addition to modernizing its ships with wind-assisted propulsion as part of its fleet expansion plans.
These investments are in addition to the delivery of 10 vessels, each with a deadweight of 82,300 tons, to the G2 Ocean fleet between 2026 and 2029. The first vessel, the Star Norge, was received in January 2026.
"Through investments in both newbuilds and our existing fleet, G2 Ocean is strengthening its long-term service offering, providing cargo owners with safe, flexible, reliable, and sustainable transport solutions," stated Arthur English, CEO of G2 Ocean.
"This investment continues the development of our fleet of vessels with both jib and gantry cranes. As a global service provider, we believe it is crucial to maintain a highly flexible fleet to be able to adapt solutions to our customers' needs," English added.
The incorporation of six new open-hatch gantry crane vessels enhances G2 Ocean's operational flexibility by bridging the gap between its larger gantry crane vessels (72,000 deadweight tons) and units ranging from 36,000 to 55,000 deadweight tons.
