Hapag-Lloyd has reactivated all its vessels that were held in the Persian Gulf, affected by the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a company spokesperson informed in response to a Reuters inquiry.
"This was carried out only after a careful evaluation of the security situation and in close coordination with the competent authorities, security partners, and our teams on board and on land," the authorized person to speak with the agency specified.
For security reasons, Hapag-Lloyd decided not to provide details about the operation, nor the names of the vessels, their routes, or itineraries.
A little over two weeks ago, four of the German company's vessels remained trapped in the Persian Gulf due to the war in Iran.
At the beginning of the conflict, the number amounted to six ships and 150 crew members; however, one was released in April and another ceased to belong to the Hapag-Lloyd fleet after its charter contract expired.
For its part, Maersk reported that two of its vessels safely navigated the Strait of Hormuz, thereby exiting the Persian Gulf. Another is expected to do the same in the short term.
