The ports of Paita, Callao, and Chancay entered the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2025, a report by the World Bank and S&P Global, positioning themselves among the 100 most efficient terminals globally in containerized management.
The port of Paita ranked 44th in this ranking, followed by the port of Callao in 47th place and Chancay in 73rd, which reaffirms Peru's growth in port management and operations, thanks to investment and the development of its port terminals.
With this qualification, the three Peruvian ports are among the top 10 positioned in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with Paita occupying the fifth position in said publication with 69.8 points.
It is important to note that this ranking evaluates more than 400 container ports worldwide and measures operational efficiency based on the time vessels spend in port, analyzing the productivity of loading and unloading operations, berth availability, logistical coordination, and the ability to minimize delays.
Of the more than 400 terminals evaluated in the CPPI 2025, only 13 LAC ports managed to enter the global top 100, a list led in the region by the Port of Posorja, Ecuador, in 20th place overall.
It should be noted that the General San Martín port, in Paracas, is also part of this report, occupying the 160th position worldwide.
As a reminder, according to the latest ECLAC report, the port of Callao consolidated its position among the four main ports in Latin America and the Caribbean by mobilizing 3.07 million TEUs in 2024.
The National Port Authority (APN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), reaffirms its commitment to ensuring port efficiency, supervising operations, and promoting modernization and investment in competitive and quality port infrastructure.
